DAB+ |
DAB+ is the name given to the additional audio codec for DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting). DAB+ is based on Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) of MPEG-4. The new coding is more efficient than the old codec which is based on MPEG Audio Layer II. DAB+makes it possible to transmit more radio stations on the same multiplex, giving the audience a broader choice. DAB+ is fully scalable and compatible with the old standard. It allows current DAB stations to be broadcast along with the additional DAB+. New receivers will be able to decode stations using both options for audio coding.
