Beta test
(β-test)

The beta test (β-test) is the second stage of testing a hardware or software product. The beta test is usually performed by dependable customers who volunteer to use a product and report any problems, before the product is actually released.

The beta test is performed after the alpha test (α-test). The alpha (&alpha) is the first letter in the Greek alphabet and the (Beta (β) is the second letter. The alpha test is usually done by an internal test team of the company itself.
