DVB-SH |
DVB-SH (Satellite services for Handhelds) is a satellite based system for broadcasting of digital television to handheld partables. DVB-SH is part of the family of standards of the DVB Project. DVB-SH is designed to give coverage in rural areas and has to be complemented by terrestrial repeaters to provide indoor coverage and urban areas where a direct link from the satellite to the mobile terminal does not exist. DVB-SH is based on IP-transmission (IP Datacasting) and uses OFDM. DVB-SH has been designed for frequencies below 3 GHz, typically the S-band.
DVB-SH is the satellite version of DVB-H, which is based on terrestrial transmitters to deliver broadcast services to handheld portables.
