Local Area Network (LAN) |
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a computer network that interconnects the computers and other devices (such as printers) within a relatively small area such as an office, a building or a campus. Originally, a LAN was used in an office environment. With the growing number of computers within a household, the LAN is also introduced in the consumer environment.
A LAN can be wired or wireless. The latter is called a Radio LAN (RLAN) or Wireless LAN (WLAN).
