Multimedia Home Platform

The Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) is a part of the DVB standard that defines a generic interface between digital applications and the terminals on which those applications execute. MHP can be used to introduce interactivity within the DVB services. MHP is based on Java. The terminal must include a Java Virtual Machine to execute the Java bytecode. This makes it possible to build DVB services without the need to have any knowledge about the hardware of the terminal. The services can be executed on a a large variety of terminals, as long as they have the Java Virtual Machine on-board.
