WiMedia UWB |
WiMedia refers to the ultra-wideband (UWB) common radio platform that enables high-speed (480Mbps and beyond), low power consumption multimedia data transfers in a wireless personal area network (WPAN). WiMedia UWB is optimized for the personal computer (PC), consumer electronics (CE), mobile devices and automotive market segments.
The WiMedia UWB common radio platform is based on multiband orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (MB-OFDM). WiMedia UWB operates in the UWB spectrum of 3.1 to 10.6 GHz band. Initial deployment will be in the 3.1 - 4.8 GHz band. In this band are 3 radio channels defined of 528 MHz each. Within this channel are 128 frequencies defined with a spacing of 4.125 MHz for the OFDM signal.

WiMedia UWB is described in the ECMA-368 and ECMA-369 specification. These have been approved as an international ISO/IEC International Standard.
